TOXIC SOLIDS, FLAMMABLE.

Emergency procedures

Action

Avoid all sources of ignition (e.g. naked lights, unprotected light bulbs, electric handtools).

Spillage on deck

Collect spillage, where practicable, for safe disposal. Wash remainder overboard with copious quantities of water.

Spillage under deck

Collect spillage, where practicable, for safe disposal.

Fire on deck

Use water spray from as far away as practicable. If possible remove receptacles likely to be involved or keep them cool with copious quantities of water.

Fire under deck

Batten down; use ship's fixed fire-fighting installation. Otherwise adopt action as for "On deck".

Special equipment to be carried

Full protective clothing (gloves, boots, coveralls, headgear, goggles).
Self-contained breathing apparatus.
Spray nozzles.

Remarks by UN no.

• BERYLLIUM POWDER (UN No. 1567)
Water used on the burning substance may cause a violent reaction. Carbon dioxide is unsuitable for fire; use inert material. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus when dealing with spillage.

• DINITROANILINES (UN No. 1596)
• DINITROBENZENES, SOLID (UN No. 1597)
In fire, explosion hazard.

• SODIUM AZIDE (UN No. 1687)
In fire, explosion hazard. Keep spillage wet with water.

• TEAR GAS SUBSTANCE, SOLID, N.O.S. (UN No. 1693)
• TEAR GAS CANDLES, non-explosive (UN No. 1700)
Spillage may be gaseous. Turn ship off-wind.

• AMMONIUM DINITRO-ortho-CRESOLATE, SOLID (UN No. 1843)
• DINITROTOLUENES, SOLID (UN No. 2038)
• 2-BROMO-2-NITROPROPANE,1,3-DIOL (UN No. 3241)
In fire, explosion hazard.
